CRÓNICA DE LA RUTA - Mejor imposible - Por Pedro Santos Redondo

Esta es mi sensación vivida desde el punto de vista de Organización y del de participante. Todo ha discurrido por los cauces previstos, nada ha quedado al azar. Todos los dorsales repartidos, a la hora precisa, por fin fotos de los Camino a la Perdición asistentes con su mecenas Fuente de Cantos Motor-Skoda. Y bajo el arco de salida a las 10:06h, con ganas de salir a rodar, 446 bikers (algunos de los inscritos fallaron pero sus dorsales fueron reasignados a otros ciclistas) venidos de toda Extremadura y de muchas otras comunidades se hacían la última instantánea. Un pequeño paseo por las calle de Fuente de Cantos y pronto entrábamos en camino y yendo en cabeza los de nuestro club marcábamos un ritmo sosegado con la intención de no disgregar el grupo. .

Apoyado en el hombro de Antoñito miré hacia atrás. Edición tras edición siempre me ha impresionado esa visión en los parajes llanos de Fuente de Cantos, pero esta vez era un espectáculo. El socorrido símil de “serpiente multicolor” quizás sirva para la Vuelta a España ayer no. La “gran pitón” diría yo. Insisto impresionante.

Pronto llegamos al río Bodión donde descabalgados y bici en hombro unos, montados otros hasta media pierna mojados, y los terceros por un tronco alejado el agua no probaron, todavía…

Los encinares se acercaban y la parte más angosta con ellos. La vereda y el cortafuegos manaban agua y la rueda trasera en algunos tramos carecía de agarre cuando no culeaba indómita. Aún así, casi todos los que mi vista alcanzaba superaron el escollo con arrojo. En el alto, ocupando la carretera de Calera a Segura, esperaba el primer avituallamiento y reagrupamiento. Estremecidos por el frío durante largo rato esperamos a los últimos ciclistas de la marcha hasta que abrimos la “compuerta” y en tropel bajamos al río Ardila con sus tres correspondientes vadeos.

Una nueva, pero breve pausa, en linea de salida del competitivo. Se mascaba la tensión en el ambiente. Los pro se fueron colocando en primera línea pidiendo paso a los demás. Telefonazo a los árbitros y… abro el paso con buena salida pero la dicho cala no encuentra hueco en el pedal y pierdo fuelle. Para cuando quiero darle fuerte los “buenos” me sacan 300 metros. Veo que Antoñito consigue seguir la estela de los fuertes y me quedo con Toro a buen ritmo. En una de las rampas le digo que se vaya, que hoy no hay más y así lo hace. Lo mantego a vista un buen rato y me recupero un poco, ya con el pistón al 90%, me pasan y paso a algunos, toma y daca. La piernas en las zonas centrales como hacía mucho que no las sentía: pletóricas de fuerza aunque bramaban de dolor y calor al borde de la contractura. Las sigo exprimiendo dándoles descanso en las bajadas que con la Spark son deliciosas y me hace ganar algunos puestos. Al final me encuentro en un grupo de 3 jugándomelas casi al sprint; al entrar en el cemento a 189 siento el jadeo de ambos en la nuca; un golpe de pedal y el aumento de cadencia me aseguran entrar delante de ellos a 194.

Aquí acabó mi ruta montado en bici. Ahora tocaba trabajar pasando los datos de los 100 primeros clasificados, los mejores clubes, féminas, etc, etc… todo para que las cosas estuvieran perfectas.

En la Venta del Gato la comida mejoró con respecto al año pasado en cantidad, buenos productos ibéricos y en los postres la entrega de premios a los 10 primeros (ver clasificación en este sitio web) a las tres primeras féminas, con el bonito detalle de Loli y Alicia y el sorteo de regalos que tanto gusta.

En definitiva un día de MTB, de compañerismo, de buenos caminos, de mucha agua, de todo lo mejor…imposible mejor.

Agradecimientos: primero a todos los 446 ciclistas que acudieron y a los 12 que aún habiendo estado inscrito no pudieron asistir. También a los 120 preinscritos que mostraron su interés y que por una causa u otra no formalizaron el ingreso, el año que viene nos veremos.

Segundo, y como no, a las 3 piezas fundamentales de esta Marcha: Fuente de Cantos Motor-Skoda y todos sus colaboradores (Javi a la cabeza, Juan Antonio, Gerardo, Miguel Ángel, Julián, Antonio, Marisa y muchos otros que no conozco personalmente) y a el Club Ciclista Camino a la Perdición (Con Pedro, el que escribe a la cabeza, y Antonio, Antoñito, Collado, Germán, Domingo, Antonio F, Soni, Pepe, Luis y todos cuantos estuvieron en las mesas) y el Ayuntamiento de Fuente de Cantos (con Luis Sanchez, Concejal de Deporte, a la cabeza)

A recambios Antolín y Orbea que en esta edición se han convertido en el cuarto pilar básico. Y a embutidos Santa-Elena que han aportado el suculento jamón, que, por cierto no tuve ocasión de probar.

A los amigos del club: Gregorio el DUE, Fernando, Gema y a las auxiliares y celadora del paritorio de Mérida que han colaborado con los dorsales, papeletas, clasificaciones…

Y a las marcas colaboradoras por la aportación, que en tiempos de crisis se vuelve el doble de valiosa, entre ellas Coca-cola, Joyma, y Pasteleria Ntra señora de la Hermosa.

Para finalizar, a los 2 agentes del Seprona que se lo trabajaron duro cubriendo todo el recorrido. Y a los 2 agentes de tráfico que sólo me multaron con 3 sanciones el sábado cuando íbamos con los quads a marcar el recorrido.
